My artistic vision is incredibly compelling! By merging the abstract elements of the Rorschach test with intentional storytelling, I create silhouette portraits as a dynamic interaction between the viewer’s and my artwork. This balance between guided imagery and open interpretation allows my pieces to resonate on a personal and emotional level, making each viewer's experience unique.
It’s an amazing way to connect deeply with the community, allowing others to explore their own perceptions while reflecting on the narrative I’ve woven into my work.
GLORIA ZAPATA
As an artist raised in both Honduras and the Bronx, my goal is to provide creative art, including paintings, spray paintings, canvases, murals, and photography, while also teaching art classes and workshops to youth. I use my art to uplift the community and offer encouragement to those in need, creating work that is deeply meaningful and impactful.
My silhouette portrait paintings, each expressed through single colors, serve as a visual representation of artistic media and emotion. I also transition my paintings into digital art to expand my creative process and reach wider audiences through modern platforms. Currently, I’m working on a series of empowering black-and-white portraits set against colorful backgrounds, featuring iconic figures from Hip Hop, celebrities, activists, as well as family, friends, and community members. Through these works, I aim to inspire and celebrate the resilience and spirit of those who shape our world.
Rooted in personal passion and social impact, my accomplishments are not just for myself, but for those who seek encouragement and healing. I am driven by the belief that art can make a colorful difference in the world. Through my paintings, digital art, and photography, I continue to demonstrate how creativity can empower communities and individuals alike.
